One of the best ways you can keep yourself healthy year round is doing what you can to prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses. It’s something that’s often dead-simple – but commonly forgotten which the recent outbreak of Covid 19 (Coronavirus) has shown. We’re here to remind you what simple steps you can take yourself at your home or business, as well as some of our professional sanitization options for a truly thorough deep clean.
First and foremost – Wash your hands!
The number one way we get sick is we touch something contaminated then touch our eyes, mouth, ears or nose. Bacteria & Viruses can survive on you and the things you touch pretty easily, so preventing them from reaching your body is key! The best way to do that is regularly washing your hands with soap and water, for at least 20-30 seconds, several times a day. In a pinch a few squirts of alcohol based hand sanitizer will do the job, but regular old soap and water is best. Hopefully everyone around you follows proper etiquette to reduce spreading germs when sneezing or coughing, but we can’t always be so sure. Wash your hands regularly and avoid touching your face as much as possible.
Secondly – wash everything else!
So the germs go from the surfaces around us – to our hands – to our orifices. If our hands are clean – our next step then is to do what we can to cut down on harmful illness causing microbes is clean the surfaces we touch. Swab tests show that the most frequently touched objects in your home, car or office are going to be the most likely to get you sick.
Third – Clean Air!
An option for reducing bacteria, allergens and promoting better Indoor air quality is an Air Sanitizer. We carry several models of UVC air purifiers from portable units capable of being placed in the most high traffic areas to units that are installed as part of your HVAC system. The benefit of these units are that they provide continual cleaning – destroying airborne bacteria and viruses.
What Can You Do?
Bacteria and viruses can survive on just about any surface. Luckily there is lots we can do. Hard surfaces are easier to clean – make sure you use a detergent of some kind and thoroughly wipe down countertops, tables, toilets, often neglected appliances like washers and dryers. Just about every hard surface .
Pay special attention to things like the door handles, fridge handles, microwaves, coffee machines. Anything several people are going to touch are at an increased risk of harbouring something nasty so be sure to give it a good wipe down.
So How Can A1 SCS Help?
While things like disinfecting wipes definitely reduce the number of active bacteria – but don’t be so quick to believe all manufacturers claims of “kills 99.9% of germs”. Our swab tests have shown that in real world scenarios using a disinfecting wipe doesn’t reduce the number of bacteria to what we would consider a “passing” level.
Another tricky thing to consider is sensitive electronics. You don’t necessarily want to be rubbing potentially destructive chemicals on some plastics and liquids on high ticket items – but you want to slow the spread of bacteria. Our recommendation in that scenario is UV sanitizing with our SaniSport machine – where we take the items and blast them with an intense UV light. This shreds harmful germs while leaving all your sensitive or complex items intact, dry, and now germ free! Electronic items commonly cleaned using UV are
- Keyboards & Mice
- Childs toys
- Game controllers
- Remote controls
- Electronic Keys
- Cell Phones
- Handheld Devices
- Cordless & Corded Phones
We are able to offer ATP testing, as well as portable whole home/office sanitizing solutions. We’ll show you swab test results before / after for problem areas to set your mind at ease.
That’s great for hard surfaces, but what about cloth items?
We can handle those as well! Depending on the type of cloth and overall item cleanliness we can use the SaniSport to provide the same benefits on notoriously hard to clean items like hockey gear. Basically anything that can fit in the SaniSport machine is able to be cleaned and sanitized by it.
For wearable items and other similarly sized soft objects we have a high pressure soft contents restoration machine. It forces water and detergent through fabrics and other soft materials – eliminating germs and scrubbing away dirt – bringing the overall look back to an almost new condition! Beyond what you can do with a washer and dryer at home the eSporta system is powerful enough to properly clean almost every soft item from a beloved stuffed animal to filthy turnout gear. We also offer sanitation fogging services. During your off hours we come to your business with our cleaning equipment and fill the area with a disinfecting fog. This fog is able to easily get into all the cracks and crevices that are hard to clean – reaching areas that no other type of sanitization service is able to offer.
Our fogging solution is a disinfectant, sanitizer, fungicide, virucide, bactericide and mild detergent, that’s hospital grade and able to be used on both hard, nonporous surfaces and soft porous surfaces alike. It’s an atomized mist – which means it’s able to kill airbourne organisms.
It’s completely safe to use around electronics, flowers and other house plants will be unaffected, and you can re-enter the area about an hour after having fogging performed. If you’re handling the cleaning of a school, hotel, doctors office, church, indoor playground or office building – consider having a fogging performed to help keep everyone happy and healthy.
A good cleaning before the height of flu season combined with regular wipe downs should offer up a good defense against illness-causing invaders.
